Experience the bloom of new life as it bursts into vibrant colour along the slopes of this gorgeous place, delighting in the delicious wine that you can sample, as well as a journey on the famous Moselle Wine train.
Itinerary
Day 1
To Cochem
Meet your group and Tour Manager at Rail Discoveries' dedicated Departure Office in London St Pancras, before taking the Eurostar to Brussels. Then head through the Ardennes to Luxembourg, where you change to a local train bound for the Moselle Valley, and the riverside town of Cochem.
Day 2Cochem and the Moselle River
Today starts with a guided tour of delightful Cochem, a perfect introduction to this charming town. Later, embark on a cruise along the Moselle, with views of Reichsburg Castle, a beautiful former Imperial castle that crowns Cochem, and Ebernach Abbey, a former monastery surrounded by vineyards.
Day 3
Trier
Travel by train to Trier on today's excursion. Trier is considered to be Germany's oldest city as it was founded over 2,000 years ago. Explore the city's main sights and attractions, including the cathedral, and enjoy a guided tour of Trier, which gives an excellent introduction to the city.
Day 4Wine tasting in Traben-Trarbach
Take a train along the Moselle Valley to Bullay, then change onto a scenic branch line known as the Moselle Wine Train. The route travels from the hillside down to riverside Traben-Trarbach. Here, you enjoy a tasting of Moselle wine before returning by train to Cochem.
Day 5
Return home
Today you say goodbye to the beautiful Moselle Valley, and begin your journey home. After breakfast, you leave Cochem by local train for Luxembourg, then join a rail service to Brussels. Here you change for the Eurostar to St Pancras International in London.
Moselle Wine Train
Taking place on Day 4, this journey is an undoubted highlight of the tour. This trip takes you through the stunning countryside of the Moselle Valley, venturing through the myriad of verdant beauty. Of course, enjoy a fantastic sample of the delicious wine that this train takes its name from in beautiful Traben-Trarbach.
